The Last Drag
The rain pours
On a cold night,
In the welcome dark
Is an orange light.
The fiery heat on
Parted lips is felt,
In forgiving silence
Heart-break is dealt.
'Six Swiss ships
Swiftly shift'
Does that a corner
Of the mouth lift ?
The ash is flicked,
The stub is out.
Nicotine erases
All trace of doubt.

Heart-break is dealt.
